ENGL 2012:
INTERMEDIATE FICTION

Short Story: "White Prayer Pages"

This class was within my major requirements as a creative writing fiction course, one of many creative writing courses I have taken here at DU but the only fiction one. Over the quarter I was to write a ten-page short story of my choosing and I chose to write a story broken up into short vignettes. Each vignette is supposed to feel connected but not inherently close to one another in a chronological order. Each vignette has the freedom to use different points of view, different tenses, and show a different level of maturity of the narrator. The unnamed narrator explores her own life and experiences through relationships and religion and what it means to intertwine the two.

This piece helped my writing explore a new hybrid of fiction and commit to a longer narrative rather than poetry which I so often cling to.
